About Katja De Ruyter
Katja was born and educated in the Netherlands. She attended Gerrit Rietveld Academy, where she studied interior design and painting.
In 1977, Katja, her husband and their two children emigrated to the United States. They traveled throughout the U.S.: Maine, Maryland, Texas, Colorado and then finally settling in Princeton NJ. In that time, Katja returned to college to obtain her Bachelor's and Master's in French and Education. She taught at the College of New Jersey for many years.
Katja never lost her passion for painting. She trained under the tutelage of Mel Leipzig and Kyle Stevenson. Ms De Ruyter works in oil, acrylic and mixed media. Her painting style began as impressionistic and later gravitated towards German Expressionism.
